Welcome to Friends of Lincolnville Beach

We are a group of concerned citizens that want to protect the charm of the coastal Maine town of Lincolnville Beach

From Florida to Canada, Lincolnville Beach is the only place that Route 1 runs alongside the Atlantic.

Protecting this special place just got harder. As of May, 2024 half of Lincolnville Beach has been purchased by the State of Maine!

There is a Maine Department of Transportation (MDOT) plan underway to turn what used to be a popular take-out restaurant into a very large parking lot.

The ferry to the island of Islesboro generates a large amount of traffic, between Island residents and the working people that commute daily, many people cannot find a place to park. However, this is a seasonal problem. During the winter Lincolnville Beach is a working harbor where lobstermen make their living and the town battles strong storms and rising tides.

The mandate for MDOT was 30 parking spaces. However, MDOT also expressed that they would like to get as many as 64 additional spaces.

We as concerned citizens believe that Lincolnville Beach must be honored for its character and charm as well as being a vital economic asset for the community. We will be working with residents to come up with a way to influence the MDOT’s plans in a way that enhances Lincolnville Beach as a destination.
